Around the Island Swim winners earn $3,300

The finishers of the 52nd Annual Atlantic City Around the Island Marathon Swim shared a $25,000 purse on Saturday.

The winners of the 221/2-mile race around Absecon Island in the men's and women's division were Petar Stoychev of Bulgaria in seven hours, 24 minutes and 12 seconds and Britta Kamrau of Australia (7:35.41), respectively, and were awarded $3,300. The second-place finishers, Atlantic City's John Kenny (7:26.23) and Bulgaria's Ivanka Moralieva, earned $2,300.

The third-place finishers, Australia's Brendan Capell and Shelley Clarke, took $1,900. Fourth place paid $1,600 to Argentina's Rafael Perez and the USA's Erica Rose, and the fifth-place finishers, Egypt's Mohamed Serour and Macedonia Teodora Raptis, took $1,300. The women's side had just five finishers

Alexander Studzinski of Germany earned $1,200 for finishing sixth, Macedonia's Jane Karajavonov took seventh and got $1,050, American Sean Seaver won $1,000 after finishing eighth, and the last finisher, Brazil's Diego DeMattos Felipe, won $950.

Canadians Andre Couturier and Mathieu Leblanc didn't finish the race, and amateur contestant USA's Rendy Opdycke also pulled out of the race.
